We would like to wish all of our past, present and future clients a very Happy New Year for 2014.
With the New Year beginning it’s a good time to get your finances in order. Making sure that your tax affairs are correct and up to date should be top of the priority list, to ensure you’re not paying too much income tax.
You can review your tax record for the last four tax years, which means you should consider whether you have overpaid taxes from the 6th April 2009. The last tax year you can claim a tax rebate for runs until the 5th April 2010, but the deadline to make a claim for this year is the 31st January this year.
For this reason looking into your tax affairs sooner rather than later is the best option so you don’t miss out on any money you are owed.
Take Some Time out to Review your Tax Position
It can be costly to assume that you have always paid the right amount of tax. With one in three UK tax payers reportedly paying too much, there is a decent chance you could be one of them.
With each person being different and the variety of reasons why paying too much tax can happen it’s a good idea to take some time to learn why you could have paid more than you should have, and how to claim it back.
