But there are also a number of other tax rebates you could claim for and we don’t want you to miss out on any of them.
These are some of the most common claims that can be made by members of the CIOB:
- Accommodation and ‘subsistence’ costs if you are working away from home.
- The cost of buying and laundering work uniform or protective clothing yourself.
- Purchasing tools that are for use at work and you are not reimbursed by your employer.
- Travel costs of using your own vehicle to get to temporary work locations. Or the cost of public transport to make the same journey.
- Membership of CIOB, other professional bodies and some Trade Unions and subscriptions to some trade related journals.
CIOB tax rebate facts
- We can backdate your claim up to 4 years. So if you’ve just come up to management through the tools, you are probably due more than you first thought!
- You do not have to have been employed by the same company for the whole period you are claiming for.
- All of communication with HMRC is private and has no effect on your employer at all.
- Receipt evidence is not always needed.
How do I claim CIOB tax relief?
To make a tax rebate claim for your membership fees into the CIOB and other expenses related to your job you should submit a P87 form or a self assessment tax return.
