We want to reassure our clients that we are open and working with minimum disruption. We are following the government’s advice to the letter, as our first priority is the health of our staff and clients.
As an online tax and accountancy business, we really don’t have to make too many changes in the way we interact with clients or HMRC. Which means we are in the fortunate position of being able to process your work as usual.
Communication with Tax Rebate Services
Face-to-face meetings are to be stopped until we receive an all clear from the government. We can Skype these meetings instead, if they are already in our diary.
The majority of our clients have always preferred to email or phone us to discuss their work. This continues as normal, from the office or if we’re working from home. So if you have question about your tool receipts or when HMRC will reply just get in touch as you would normally.
Here to help
Obviously, maintaining good health is everyone’s first concern. But a close second is financial stability, an essential element for everyone’s overall wellbeing. The uncertainty around how long our pandemic precautions will last, generates an extra level of stress.
We’re not trivialising the potential impact of our current health emergency and we’re certainly not claiming to have all the answers. But there may be some things within your personal and business finances that you can take control of, such as:
- File your 2019-20 self assessment tax return as soon as the financial year ends on 5th Guaranteed that you won’t get a late penalty and you don’t have to pay the tax you owe until January 31st 2021.
- Check to see if you can claim any tax relief allowances for your work expenses. This applies to you if you are paid through PAYE, it’s not just for self employed taxpayers.
- Generally get yourself in your most tax efficient state.
These are just a few of the things we can help you with, from claiming your tax rebate, to a tax code check. They all need a little bit of your time to gather the necessary bits of information and talk to us. After that, we do all the work and aim to save you as much money as possible by ensuring that you are totally tax efficient. You pay what you are liable for and not a penny more.
If you are self isolating and are lucky enough not to have any symptoms, it’s a productive way to spend a bit of the unexpected time at home. There’s no risk to your health and it means you’ve got essential paperwork out of the way for when you can get back to work properly.
There’s no upfront fee for most of our services, so you’re not losing anything by inquiring. We are paid a percentage of any tax rebate that you receive from HMRC. And if there’s no rebate, there’s no fee.
How are HMRC doing?
Like every government department, HMRC are preparing as best they can to support the individuals and the government through the rest of the covid-19 crisis. They have issued a document called COVID-19: guidance for employees, employers and businesses. And they have also established a helpline for businesses and the self employed if they are concerned they are unable to pay their tax bill because of the outbreak: 0800 0159 559.
It’s important to remember that HMRC is staffed by people that have the same concerns and fears as we do. They will do their best to help, but we may need to be more than usually patient.
We don’t know what effect this is going to have on their usual processing times for tax rebates and other day to day tax matters. We will let you know as soon as we do.
We will continue to do our best to maintain an uninterrupted service. Please don’t hesitate to give us a call if you think we might be able to help you with your financial matters.
